INTIMATE BACKYARD WEDDING- Brandon Manitoba
Drew and Lara met as teenagers at summer camp. I can’t tell you for sure if it was love at first sight but I can tell you, the tall blonde with the infectious smile sure caught the eye of the cool counsellor with the twinkle in his eye. The two stayed friends and somehow life always brought them back together until they found themselves dreaming about one of the biggest days of their lives together. Drew and Lara faced immeasurable odds while planning their day. 2020 was the year none of us planned for. Manitoba was in the throes of a pandemic ( much like it still is today) and restrictions loomed over the day, making planning difficult. Drew and Lara, along with their families rose to the occasion with grace and determination, all of which culminated in a day that was both rich and intimate. With Lara dressed in a gorgeous gown, handcrafted by her mother, carrying flowers arranged by Bloom floral, they wed on the side of the valley, the backdrop for Lara’s childhood, the late autumn leaves and grasses framing in the rich jewel tones of the party and florals. The day culminated in an intimate tent dinner party, where Drew and Lara had the folks at Loaf and Honey curate a dinner menu crafted to showcase specific elements of their love story. The cozy tent, which felt more like a boho living room, was both cozy and elegant and created a space that was filled with laughter, tear-jerking speeches, the tinkling of glasses and the kind of warmth that you feel long after. I was honoured to be a part of Lara and Drew’s day, and to tell their story through my lens.
